Speaker Spotlight: Josh Koenig
Josh Koenig will be speaking this year at Do It With Drupal. Josh will be presenting Drupal In The Cloud. He will demonstrate how to get Drupal running in a virtualized environment and discuss the performance implications and advantages of running your site in the cloud.
Josh is a founding partner at Chapter Three, an expert Drupal consultancy based in San Francisco California. He has been active with the Drupal community since 2003 — that's Drupal 4.2, for those keeping track — and was the founder of the Drupal Dojo. As CTO of Chapter Three, he specializes in infrastructure, architecture, scalability, and high-performance engineering.
This summer, Chapter Three launched Pantheon, an open-source effort to develop scalable, stable and secure infrastructure for the next generation of Drupal websites using Cloud Computing techniques. The first Pantheon initiative, Project Mercury, implemented an optimized hosting stack built for speed, and benchmarked at over 2000 pages per second. Additional Pantheon projects are underway to deliver on-demand Continuous Integration testing services, Apache Solr search, high-availability MySQL, and to integrate with the Aegir deployment system. Speaker Spotlight: Moshe Weitzman
In addition to being one of Drupal's old timers (he has the drupal.org user id of 23), most people in the Drupal community know Moshe as the father of Organic Groups. Organic Groups is Drupal's answer to Yahoo Groups or Google Groups. Part private/public message board, part mailing list, part MySpace, Organic Groups can be used in many ways to solve many different types of problems. And at Do It With Drupal, Moshe will be leading an Organic Groups master class. Come learn what can be done and how you add Organic Groups to your site from the module's author and creator.
Moshe has been a consistent contributor to Drupal core and contrib since November 2001 (before drupal.org was born). As such, he has pretty much been involved in one way or another with every line of code in Drupal core. He maintains the user.module, the bootstrap code, and the groups.drupal.org web site. Come Habitat with Us!
We had an awesome, awesome time last year spending the Saturday after the event doing volunteer work on housing for the needy in New Orleans. We'll be doing it again this year, on Saturday, December 12th.
This is a great bonding event, a chance to get outside after a few days cooped up in a conference center, and an awesome way to give back to the community of New Orleans.
Be sure to include Saturday in your stay. We'd love to have as many people as possible! Sign up details will follow closer to the event.

We Have Schedule!
The preliminary schedule for Do It With Drupal 2009 has been posted. Things are still moving around a bit and we have yet to create links to speaker bios and additional session information. But we wanted to get this up as soon as possible so that people can see what we've got planned.
Check back in the next few days as we finish filling out the schedule for another great DIWD event! Read more »
Dries Buytaert to Keynote at Do It With Drupal 2009
The second year of Do It With Drupal is shaping up to be even better than the first. We're getting bigger and better website case studies and dissections, really great speakers (more of whom we'll be announcing soon), and putting together an all-around fabulous Drupal event.
When it comes to Drupal celebrities, you won't find any bigger than Dries Buytaert. For those of you who are new to Drupal, Dries is the project founder and lead. He's the guy who's guided Drupal to become the popular and formidable website platform that it is today. Dries has also founded both Acquia and Mollom and continues to win awards and accolades for his work.
We're proud to announce that Dries Buytaert will be one of the keynote presenters at this year's Do It With Drupal event. Read more »
We're Doing It Again!

Last year's Do It With Drupal Seminar was a great success. We had nearly 300 attendees with a wide variety of Drupal experience and we're planning for an even larger event this year. The response from attendees was astounding. In addition to the high-quality information and sessions, people seemed to love everything from the location and accommodations, to the food and social events. We planned a high-quality high-density Drupal learning experience and it seems like we really hit the mark.
So we're doing it again. We're heading back to the beautiful New Orleans Marriott Hotel located at the edge of the city's historic French Quarter for Do It With Drupal 2009, December 9, 10, 11, 2009. The event focuses on the practical needs of those interested in building Drupal websites today. We invite Drupal's most prominent module developers and thinkers to come and talk to normal folks building sites. We also focus on the non-Drupal knowledge needed to build a successful Drupal site such as project management, community building, design and front-end development, server and infrastructure planning, and new and upcoming technologies.
Registration opens in one week on August 24th at 12:00 Eastern US time. And the first 25 registrations will save $100 each. Space is limited and prices go up again in September and November, so register as early as possible. Read more »
The Do It With Drupal Video Archive Is Up!
We're pleased to announce that all of the videos from Lullabot's Do It With Drupal Seminar are now available online at DoItWithDrupal.com. We've posted over 40 hours of training material from 34 different sessions, which represents an amazing amount of Drupal-based learning material.
We've received a huge demand of people wanting to know if the videos will be available. And now we can confidently say, "Yes!" For all attendees of the event, you can access to the videos by simply logging in using your account at doitwithdrupal.com. For everyone else, you can purchase access to the entire video archive for just $95.
We're making a couple of sample videos available for free so you can get an idea of what the rest of the archive is like. One is a popular presentation where Angie Byron and Jeff Robbins spent a weekend's worth of development time to build a Drupal-based clone of Basecamp called "Rockclimbr".
The other free sample videos is Moshe Weitzman's informative introduction to the powerful Organic Groups module. See the free videos here.
To see the other material covered at the seminar, then either browse the schedule, read through the specific session descriptions or take a look through the distinguished list of speakers. And be sure to read through our FAQ if you have any other questions.
We'd also like to thank Kaltura for helping us host and publish these videos using their All in One Video Module.
And thanks to all of the attendees who helped make the Do It With Drupal Seminar a success!
Build your schedule!
Well, it's almost here! Team Lullabot is busy putting on the finishing touches for Do It With Drupal and speakers and attendees are en route.
One very important pre-conference task is always picking your sessions and planning your schedule. We'd love to help you out. Under the Schedule, there are two tabs "All Sessions and "My Schedule" (you need to be logged in for the latter). For any of the sessions listed under "All Sessions" that you would like to attend, click the "attending" link and it will be added under "My Schedule". You can then get either list (or both!) in iCalendar format.

Load up your laptops, your PDAs and your iPhones and let's have a great three days!
Marriott Discount Extended!
The Marriott hotel has extended our group rate until Thursday, December 4th! If you haven't yet booked your room, do it now! Call the Marriott at 1.888.364.1200 and use the group code "LTCLTCA" to get the discount rate of $149/night.
The Marriott is where the event is happening and where all of the speakers and most of the attendees will be staying. They've got several restaurants and a big common-area in the lobby and this will be a great opportunity to connect with speakers and other attendees, makes some friends, rub some elbows, and exchange some business cards.
